Open Studio for Teens Whitney Museum of American Art

Bring your works-in-progress or create something entirely new. We’ll provide all of the supplies you’ll need. No previous art experience is required—everyone is welcome. Join artist IV Castellanos for a special Open Studio for Teens inspired by the exhibition Jaune Quick-to-See Smith: Memory Map. In this workshop, define decolonization through artistic expression and explore the ways art can empower those on the margins of society. Through sculpture, teens will reflect on their identities and how to uplift their communities. The workshop will be a space for healing, creativity, and the continuation of our collective empowerment. IV Castellanos is an abstract performance artist and sculptor. They create solo, collaborative, and group vignette performances in which objects are constructed and deconstructed by themselves and/or the collaborators in the piece. In addition, Castellanos creates standalone sculptures. The artist is a Three Spirit Queer Trans Bolivian Indigenous American.
